Unexpected Greatest Gifts

I told my little friend that I would wear it often. Plastic beads strung together may not seem like much to some. To me, however, it is priceless because of the heart behind it.

Gifts like that remind me of Christmas. A baby in a manger may not look significant at first glance. But when we are given eyes that begin to understand the love and sacrifice behind the gift of Jesus’ birth, everything changes!

That familiar scene becomes much more than a quaint picture on a holiday card. It is an incredible portrait displaying the unceasing pursuit of God to rescue us – not because He needs us, but because we need Him.

Like a bracelet made by a child, sometimes the most valuable gifts come in the most unexpected forms.  Jesus is the greatest gift that ever was or ever will be!

Let’s ask God to give us eyes that perceive the truth of Christmas, voices that rejoice in response, and hearts that continually seek after the One who gave it.

” This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).

“The time has come. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news”        (the words of Jesus as are recorded in Mark 1:15).
