The Three Musketeers
*Please note: With an awareness of my family’s safety and privacy, I do not refer to our children by name on this public blog or its Facebook page. They are being referred as Spock, Stitch, and Jack-Jack (listed by birth order from oldest to youngest). Though I may post pictures, I intentionally keep their faces hidden. Family and friends, please help me keep their privacy by refraining from using their real names in comments. Thank you for understanding!
The boys love the Mickey Mouse version of “The Three Musketeers” so it came as no great surprise when that is what they wanted to dress up as for Halloween. I was probably more excited about it than the boys were because I’ve called them “my three musketeers” since the day Jack-Jack was born!
I’m too cheap to buy costumes unless they are on clearance after Halloween, so I thought I would just sew something up for them. Problem is, I don’t know how to sew much beyond an occasional pillow. After my grandmother passed away, my aunt gave her sewing machine to me. I truly do want to learn and you can google anything, right? I would make costumes!
The summer months passed by and the school season began. “I really need to think about starting those costumes,” I thought. However, I greatly underestimated how full my days would be once the school began, and how many sewing materials I lacked to begin the process. It was time to throw any aspirations of me being some sort of flimsy version of Martha Stewart out the window.
BUT… I would make it work… somehow. That’s what we mom’s do, right? You find a way to make whatever “it” might be happen! After gathering some materials, I made some templates, and started to work. As for my “needle?” Well, “liquid stitch” would more than suffice for the costumes I was creating!
So, without further ado, here are our three musketeers!
All for one, and one for all!
Or, as Stitch would say, “All for one, and one for one!”
