That Annoying Jingle...

Have you ever noticed how God will repeatedly bring up topics that He is working on in you? It's like the annoying jingle that you simply cannot get out of your head! It's a reflection of God's compassion and love to transform us into people more like Him.

For me, the word "forgiveness" seems to be everywhere. He has my attention. Like you, I have experienced deep hurts that are easy to dwell on and carry. But God gave me a great gift - He opened my eyes to the depth of my own sin against Him. Does that confrontation hurt? Yes! But God's love is too great to leave us as and where we are today. My true reflection in the mirror drives me to respond in repentance, to experience His forgiveness and mercy, and to evaluate hurt from others in a new light.

Jesus told an amazing story in Matthew 18:21-35 that I encourage you to read if you're struggling with forgiveness. (*NOTE* about a topic we can chat in depth later: forgiveness, trust, and relationship don't always walk hand-in-hand. Forgiveness doesn't demand a lack of wisdom concerning future interaction with another with whom boundaries may be needed. Counsel with multiple trusted individuals is always recommended - Prov. 11:14.😉 )

Here's what God hits me over the head with every time I read Jesus' words: Who am I NOT to forgive? Is anyone else's sin against me greater than my own against God?

As readily as I receive His mercy and forgiveness, I need him to give me a humbled heart willing to give it away. I can't do it without Him but, even there, God's grace is greater!

"Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Wonderful Grace, all sufficient for me, for even me.
Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame,
O magnify the precious name of Jesus.
Praise his name!
