It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
It’s almost Christmas! We are happily counting down the days in our house as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior! One of my favorite things about Christmas is transforming the house with decorations.
Many of our decorations have sentimental value and, perhaps, that is one reason it I find pulling them out of their boxes each year so special.
This is the first year we decorated the outside of our house. I kept it simple this year with some bows and garland wrapped in lights. I would like to do a little more to the exterior next year (but I’m waiting to stock up on supplies once things are put on clearance from this season).
One of the first things I want people to notice when they enter our home, is our nativity as it serves as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. It comes from a company called Trades of Hope that partners with women all over the world to give them opportunity for a better life. This nativity was handmade in Bangladesh. You can get your own here (and they are half off right now)!
In our living room, I decorated the mantle and the kids did a great job with the tree. Every year they receive a new ornament. It was so much fun to watch them rediscover their ornaments this year as they decorated!
Most of the decorations in our kitchen are gifts from loved ones. The plates were a gift from my mom when Eric and I were first married. The framed script is the Christmas story from the book of Luke in the Bible. It is identical to the one my dad read to us each year as we grew up. The stained glass nativity was a gift from our neighbor who crafted it by hand!
Some of my most precious decorations are ones that the kids made. Since most of them are personalized, I won’t share them here. However, you can find the same ideas I did by searching on Pinterest. :)
I hope you have a very merry Christmas, and experience the joy and hope we have through Jesus Christ this season!
