Dear Momma (Letter Three)
Whether you work or stay home, I think ever mother will at some point experience feelings of inadequacy. There is always much to do and not enough time to do it. We wonder if our priorities are right. Should we be devoting more time to and with the children? Did we give our best? Could we do more?
Here is what I’m discovering, among all of my duties as a mother, my main ambition ought to be directing my children to the One who so loving formed them in my womb. That is the only thing that truly matters and it is what drives and motivates me in everything else I do as a mom.
Your family is your mission field. Motherhood is filled with a holy purpose to conform you to the image of the Father while you have the privilege of leading your children to the foot of the cross.
Every moment is an opportunity to live out the gospel in front of the little eyes that observe your steps. When you fail in front of your children, it is one of the best moments to share the gospel. You get to help present their personal need for Jesus, but they also must see your need. Be willing to be genuine and humble.
How might our families be impacted if faith truly permeated throughout every part of our being? I desire to live out Deuteronomy 11:18-19, ““You shall therefore lay up these words of Mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Make much of Christ in your marriage, home, conversation, failings, successes, and love.
There is no greater privilege than to introduce your child to Jesus.
